The Facility

The Bassment is owned and operated by the Saskatoon Jazz Society (SJS) in the heart of downtown Saskatoon at 202 4th Ave N.  It is a warm, intimate, and upscale, venue of about 3800 square feet.   The Bassment has earned a well deserved reputation of offering the best live music experience in Saskatoon. Musicians from across North America praise The Bassment for our crystal clear acoustics, the brand new Yamaha S6 concert grand piano, the tier one sound and lighting system, and the knowledgeable and appreciative full houses.  The Bassment is all ages, fully accessible, and is served by both a passenger and a freight elevator, as well as by newly renovated and fully accessible washrooms.

The Bassment was designed as a cabaret performance venue, and is normally set up with tables and chairs. However, it is possible to configure the room to your specifications.  The main seating area is approximately 1500 sq. ft., and seats about 145 comfortably with tables in place, or about 190 with concert seating.  The stage area is about 400 sq. ft, and measures 26’ long X 15’ deep X 18’ high, is fully carpeted.  The Green Room is about 180 sq. ft. and furnished with a couch, table and chairs.

The Bassment’s bar serves a variety of hard liquor, cocktails, beer, a selection of red and white wines that are available by the glass, bottle, or carafe. Food service includes appetizers, grilled sandwiches, and desserts.  Food service is typically closed during catered events.  Credit and debit card service is provided for food and beverage purchases.

Rentals

The Bassment is well suited for a wide variety of events.  The Bassment is primarily designed to be a top-tier live music venue.  The Bassment also has hosted weddings, conferences, meetings, Christmas parties, and birthday parties.  The room is quite flexible.  Tables and chairs can be re-arranged or removed.  The portable and size-adjustable maple dance floor can be built to the renter’s specifications.  The Bassment is also well connected to many of Saskatoon’s top musicians, sound technicians, caterers, and DJ’s.  Rental rates vary depending on usage and technical requirements.
