Salute to the landmark Miles Davis album.
In 1959 Miles Davis and Gil Evans collaborated on a series of
unique projects which used non-traditional instrument arrangements
within the jazz context which resulted in a number of wonderful
albums.
Through
a project headed up by some friends in Edmonton last year, a book
containing all the music from the Miles Davis/Gil Evans "Birth
of the Cool" album was re-transcribed.
The resultant "Birth of the Cool" show we played was
a bit hit and these guys were kind enough to loan me all the music
for our use here in Saskatchewan.
